Exclusively for LGBT Couples
Asheville, NC
EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT through October 6, 2017
Workshop Details
For LGBT Couples In presenting Hold Me Tight workshops, we intend to provide a safe and supportive environment for all couples to work on their relationship. This workshop format is based on attachment science which has been shown to apply, regardless of culture, ethnicity or gender. In the past, some of our LGBT participants have said they would prefer a workshop open only to LGBT couples, for reasons of safety and confidentiality.
The ways in which intimate partners fall out of connection are similar across all couples. Likewise, the roadmap for repair and reconnection is the same, no matter who you are. We are committed to love as the healer of our world, and we will support every couple who wishes to deepen their love. Some information: the video examples of Dr. Sue Johnson working in the Hold Me Tight format involve heterosexual white married couples. We are also heterosexuals. Because we are dealing with universal needs, fears and longings, we feel that all couples can learn and grow from better understanding this material . If you have questions about this or any other workshop, please contact us. One final note, if the workshop has not filled two weeks before the event, and we have straight couples asking to participate, we will allow that after speaking with them directly to confirm their acceptance and support of LGBT relationships and of transgender and gender-variant folks. Schedule Saturday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Sunday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Location This workshop will be held in our home on the east side of Asheville, NC less then two miles from the VA hospital and six miles from downtown. You can map the VA at 1100 Tunnel Road to get a reference. We have beautiful mountain views and are a 15 minute walk to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Group Size Group size is limited to 10 couples. Presentation and videos occur in group format but couples work on exercises with more privacy. This is not a group process workshop and speaking in the group is absolutely not required.
