Welcome,
I want to tell you how I became passionate about these workshops, and why I believe they matter so much.
I have been specializing in trauma recovery since 2006. I was doing good work helping individuals free themselves from the very challenging influences of their past hurts. When I went to an EFT training and studied Sue Johnson's work, I saw couples finding their way back to secure connection WITHOUT addressing the underlying trauma. I was stunned.
Trauma recovery work is still a big part of what I do, but I have witnessed over and over again that if people could really see their beloved, and hear what their words really meant (rather than what they sounded like), they just melted back into each other. And when they found or returned to secure connection with their partner, their nervous systems settled and no matter what horrors they had been through, they could find safety in the present moment with their partner.
It is my intention to support Love's victory to the best of my ability, and I believe facilitating this workshop with my beloved is part of that mission. Did you know that prior to Dr. Johnson's model, the success rate for couples therapy was about 30%? That's terrible! I am so glad that we finally have a model that really gives couples effective support!
David works at a clinic about 45 minutes from our house so he listened to Hold Me Tight as an audio book at my request. He shared his tears at hearing of couples, feeling isolated in their relationships for years or decades, finally finding through this work the love that they always wanted with their partner. He expressed his own regret that this material had not been available earlier, both for himself and others.
I feel passionate about Hold Me Tight® because it works and it is deeply needed. As a counselor, I hear how loving partners are working so hard to reach each other, to get it right, to give their partner what he/she needs, and it just doesn't get across. There is all this effort put into the relationship but it's not working. In addition, I see people feeling badly about themselves because they need their partner, not understanding that this need is an essential part of being human. I want you and your partner to have the opportunity to be with each other in such a way that your efforts matter and your needs are supported. I want Love to win.
So if this workshop feels right to you, I encourage you to come. Take care of your relationship. Take care of your family. Do what you need to do to have the love you want.
In service and gratitude,
Elli
